Indigenous Peoples’ Day – October 9th

Originally celebrated in Berkely, California in 1992, this holiday is to celebrate that populations and peoples that originated in the Americas. The holiday was started as a counter-celebration to Columbus Day (Oct. 8th), it has sprouted a life and energy of its own that shows the beauty and history of the Native Americans in the United States.
